Essential Functions Develop and execute literacy-based lessons Provide individual, small group and/or whole group differentiated instruction to students Plan and lead daily program activities, including but not limited to, Brain Breaks, physical activity, art, social emotional learning, field trips, and water activities Supervise and engage with students at all times Implement positive behavior management practices Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and families Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure student safety Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership Qualifications Required Qualifications Meet definition of highly qualified paraprofessional as defined by Title I legislation required Minimum 1 year experience working with youth ages 4-10 or with instructional assistant experience preferred Principal recommendation required Willingness to lead and supervise recreational and instructional activities Excellent communication and organizational skills Adapt to changing needs and circumstances Ability to problem solve All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte. Working Conditions Speak concisely and effectively communicate in English, written and oral Walk, stand, kneel and sit (including on the floor) while maintaining alertness for extended periods of time Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids Lift and/or assist children up to 65 pounds in weight Lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 pounds in weight Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency Ability to get in a swimming pool up to 5 feet in depth and assist students Competencies
