DESCRIPTION A

Teacher Assistant provides instructional support for students and clerical support for the Lead Teacher based on an assigned level from JK to 6th grade.

Some duties include:

Facilitating student math/reading groups Facilitating learning centers Preparing classroom materials Assisting students with transitions to restrooms, recess, and special area classes Filing student work, organizing paperwork, and scheduling activities Communicating with parents when instructed to do so by the Lead Teacher

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Teacher Assistant candidates should have experience working with children in individual and group settings. Candidates must be nurturing, professional, and supportive. The ideal candidate will help build a secure classroom environment where each child that enters feels safe and confident. They will foster strong connections with each student to prepare them to flourish spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Understand and follow classroom polices and best practices Uphold standards to care for the health and safety of children Follow lesson plans and daily schedule aligned with Lead Teacher Maintain a clean classroom consistent with health and safety standards Work with colleagues to maintain clean common areas and playgrounds Observe each child to help them improve their spiritual, academic, and social competencies Track children’s ongoing progress and development to assess their needs individually under the Lead Teacher Organize safe and well supervised lunch, nap, and snack hours Foster strong relationships with children and their families Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and school functions Help with school opening and closing procedures as assigned Maintain professional appearance and uniform as defined in employee handbook Exercise a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Graduation with a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preference may be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor’s degree or related college coursework or certifications. Evidence of commitment to a local church is required.
