EDUCATION TEACHING ASSISTANT
The successful teaching assistant is able to engage and motivate others towards excellence; possesses knowledge of the curriculum; is able to teach effectively under the direction of the classroom teacher; has strong people skills; thrives on challenge, autonomy and accountability. He or she must possess excellent organizational and time management skills; demonstrate good record keeping skills; be able to work effectively under the direction of the classroom teacher with special student populations; be creative and resourceful; possess sufficient computer skills; and work effectively in the complex operation of a K-12 school. Qualifications also include a character that exemplifies the schools Expectations. A valid drivers license and transportation are also required. Position Responsibilities1.Assist in classroom activities as instructed by the classroom teacher, supporting students with diverse learning needs across K-12 settings.2.Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and the schools curriculum in an innovative, engaging, and accessible manner, as directed by the special education teacher.3.Assist in orientation and supervision of volunteers, ensuring they understand and support the needs of the students.4.Demonstrate evidence of team building, collaboration, creative problem solving, flexibility, conflict resolution, cultural sensitivity, and genuine care for each student.5.Assist in the provision of quality classroom discipline.6.Emphasize the virtues of integrity, respect, responsibility, compassion, commitment, self-discipline, perseverance, and service to others.7.Be familiar with the Millennium Charter Academy personnel policy handbook and act in accordance with it. 8.Demonstrate flexibility in implementation of charter school concept by undertaking diverse responsibilities found in a small population school.
