Description
The Specialist, Teaching and Learning Support role in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) plays a vital role in supporting Vance-Granville’s curriculum and continuing education efforts by collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The position provides support, training, and assistance related to the Learning Management System (LMS). Additionally, this position will contribute to the enhancement of academic excellence across various teaching modes, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face classroom settings, and works under the supervision of the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning. The Specialist, Teaching and Learning Support responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to: providing comprehensive support to faculty and students in using educational technologies, designing and maintaining technology-enhanced courses, conducting training sessions, ensuring compliance with state authorization and digital accessibility standards while adhering to the Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) online course standards, and performing quality assurance reviews. Overall, this role is committed to creating an enriched learning experience for all students. This is a hybrid position with both remote and on-campus requirements.
This is a temporary position for the Summer of 2025, assigned to the VGCC Main Campus in Henderson, NC. Some travel to other counties within the college’s service area may be required. Consistent with VGCC’s Teleworking Policy, this position is eligible for up to 3 days per week of teleworking, subject to your supervisor’s approval.

Essential Duties
Responsibilities Faculty and Student Support:
Assist faculty and students with issues related to learning management systems (LMS), digital accessibility, and other educational technologies.
Curriculum and Course Support:
Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and maintain technology-enhanced courses, and provide ongoing tech consultation to ensure courses are accessible, interactive, and engaging.
Training and Development:
Conduct training sessions and workshops, including facilitating the Summer Faculty Learning Community by providing support and guidance to faculty participants, organizing sessions, and ensuring a collaborative and productive learning environment.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure adherence to state authorization requirements and conduct regular accessibility audits to meet standards with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Universal Design, and Quality Matters.
Project Support:
Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of significant projects within the Center for Teaching and Learning to ensure successful implementation and completion.
Research and Innovation:
Continuously explore new instructional tools and technologies, recommend improvements, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to promote excellence in digital teaching practices.
Communication
Communicate both written and verbal in a clear, concise manner.
Write reports and provide instructions and procedures through various software tools.
Develop and deliver presentations to convey concepts.
Proactively build relationships across the College to facilitate information exchange.
Service Delivery
Provide proactive, professional service to all stakeholders.
Support teaching and learning activities to enhance academic excellence and service quality.
Optimize service and support within the College through continuous monitoring and improvement.

Qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, or a related field.
Experience in instructional design and digital fluency with education software.
Proficiency with Moodle, as a Learning Management System.
Experience with online learning development and support tools such as multimedia and graphic design tools, collaborative desktop technologies, and web conferencing tools.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of Moodle, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Quality Matters Standards, and Universal Design.
Experience in higher education and instructional module development.
Understanding of copyright and fair use in online learning. Physical Demands
