QUESTIONS
Job Description Join us at the Historic Sites section and assist with the activation of unique, downtown, community parks! Under the supervision of the Director of Historic Sites, the Program Assistant develops, plans, and implements activities and events such as the Summer Concert Series, Story-walks, Magic and Mischief Market, and the Floral Design Workshop at Fred Fletcher Park, Latta University Historic Park, and the Tucker House. They will also serve as the occasional event staff for rentals and 3rd party events. These programs along with a future calendar of events help to enhance our park experience for guests of all ages. If you love programs and events and seeing the smiles they bring to guests, this is the role for you. A Program Assistant supports facility managers with the planning, setup, and implementation of programs, events, and rentals. The position is part-time, 20-25 hours a week. Hours include Saturdays and Sundays with some flexibility based on the events calendar, plus additional time during the week which will include some evening hours. Duties and Responsibilities Operational support for on-site events, activities and programs including but not limited to: set-up, breakdown, program facilitation, event management, inventory management, and other duties as assigned.

  • Event set-up can include tables, chairs, tents, ladders, canopies, decorations, lights, sound equipment, electrical equipment, audio/visual equipment and other select equipment as needed. Training will be provided on any specialized equipment.
  • Lead Setup and breakdown for scheduled Borden Building events.
  • Assure safety and access; watch for safety hazards or access concerns for customers and vendors; implement and utilize Event Safety Plan if necessary.
  • Assist management in creative development of new activities and enhancement of existing events.
  • Provide outstanding customer service when assisting the public through various communication methods.
  • Maintain and clean the facility and equipment as needed is required.
  • Additional responsibilities include crowd management, fire-watch, first-aid and other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position will be upbeat, energetic and have a desire produce events. A passion for creativity and bringing new ideas to life is a must. This role requires a significant amount of time in a guest facing environment as well as a large portion of behind the scenes prep work. Candidate must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. A background in education, event planning, entertainment or parks and recreation is a plus but not required. Nights, weekends and some holidays are required with this position. This position requires the ability to move around freely and lift at least 50 lbs. Employer
