Non-Exempt General Definition of Work Performs support work preparing and serving institutional meals,cleaning cafeterias, and related work as apparent or assigned. Qualification Requirements High school diploma or GED/HiSET desired. ServSafe Manager certification desired. General kitchen experience. Valid North Carolina driver license required. Ability to adjust to new and changing situations. Ability to get along well with others. Ability to assist in creating an inviting atmosphere forcustomers and staff. Ability to read and write. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work quickly with hands and complete assignments intime allotted. Salary Pay Grade NC 02 Reports to SNP Manager Essential Functions Serves as a cashier. Washes and wraps fresh fruit; measures and cups cannedfruit. Washes and measures ingredients for salads. Prepares specialty fruit and assists in vegetablepreparation. Prepares food for next day. Cleans and sanitizes work area. Counts money for petty cash, opens register, and reconcilesregister at end of day. Prepares food, washes dishes, cleans up kitchen area. Serves food. Operates equipment. Completes daily records. Stocks food and supplies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparingmeats, breads, vegetables, and other foods on a large scale. General knowledge of the use and care of utensils andequipment. General knowledge of food values and nutrition. General knowledge of USDA rules and regulations. Skill in the use of standardized recipes and specializedkitchen utensils and equipment. Ability establish and maintain effective working relationshipswith associates. Ability to work long hours while standing and under hightemperature conditions. Physical Requirements Regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertionof up to 25 pounds of force, and occasional exertion of up to 50pounds of force. Frequently requires standing; walking; sitting; speaking orhearing; using hands to finger, handle or feel; climbing orbalancing, stooping; kneeling, crouching or crawling; reaching withhands and arms; tasting or smelling; pushing or pulling; lifting;and repetitive motions. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchangingideas by using the spoken word. Hearing is required to receive detailed information throughoral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound. Requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or smallparts. Requires use of measuring devices. Occasionally requires working near moving mechanicalparts. May be exposed to the risk of electrical shock and bloodbornepathogens. Occasionally may be exposed to wet or humid conditions(non-weather), to fumes or airborne particles, to toxic or caustic,chemicals, to extreme hot or cold (non-weather). May be required to wear specialized personal protectiveequipment. Ability to work in a moderately noisy location (school kitchenand cafeteria).
