We currently have an opening for a Full Time 10- Month Teacher Assistant at our Early Childhood Center of Ironbound .

Overall Responsibility:

The Teacher Assistant will provide support and assistance to the Teacher in designing, implementing and conducting a classroom curriculum, which will guide children in the early childhood education phase.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Participates under the guidance of the Teacher, in planning and completing assignments in the support of the daily classroom program and activities. Provides individual, small and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, in order to adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and special abilities. In the absence of the Teacher, conducts the planned daily classroom activities with the Substitute Teacher. Ensures the proper level of availability and condition is maintained of classroom equipment and assumes maximum use by the children. Participates in recruiting parent volunteers and provides support to volunteers working in classrooms. Provides assistance in writing of required reports and the completion of various forms. Attends and participates in staff and parent meetings and in training and staff development sessions. Provide for professional improvement through enrollment in college courses in Early Childhood and in Special Education. Exhibits pride in professional work and accomplishments. Perform other duties as necessary to maintain the welfare of the children, the center, and the program system otherwise not included.

Requirements:

CDA, Associates Degree or 60 or more college credits preferred Understanding of child development for 0-5 years of age. Good verbal, writing and interpersonal skills 1-2 years’ experience in preschool setting. English/Spanish bilingual a MUST . Computer literate Able to work 8am-5:30pm (10 month position)
