STARTING SALARY

$56,655, FUNDED

THROUGH ARTICLE 14 OF THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CSEAAND STATE OF NEW YORK AGREEMENT JOB SUMMARY

Under the generaldirection of the Coordinator of Advisement Services, the Advisor isresponsible for providing information and clarification of policiesand procedures regarding the Partnership tuition benefits program,as well as educational advisement to CSEA-represented NYSemployees. The advisor assists employees in making educationaldecisions by collecting personal data, disseminating information oneducational resources and making appropriate referrals.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Advisement and Program Support:

Provides advisementservices via telephone and e-mail on tuition benefits and otherPartnership programs, financial aid, non-traditional study, basicskills referral, and how to determine course of study, course(s)selection, and school(s) to pursue. Conducts intake and follow-upphone sessions with employees. Disseminates and collects careerassessment information to assist employees with developing careerand education options. Refers callers to additional state,education, and other programs and services. Delivers webinars andserves as a webinar host. Assists with revising and editing ofadvisement webinars and workshops and advisement written resources,including website and on-line material, as needed. Collaborates oncurriculum development projects. Verifies accreditation ofeducation and training providers to ensure tuition benefit programcompliance. Periodically develops success stories for inclusion onthe Partnership’s website.

Employee Support:

Serves as primarycontact for special programs (for example, Targeted Tuition, AdultEducation Basics, and Applied Skilled Trades Programs). Ensuresdocumentation on file is accurate. Provides follow-up to assess thesuccess of participants. Maintains accurate records of contacts andcase management notes. Conducts informal surveys for Partnershipprograms when needed.

Other:

Completes special projects as needed.

Participates in regional outreach meetings to obtain feedback fromstakeholders and provide information on Partnership programs andservices. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college oruniversity preferred. OR An associate degree from an accreditedcollege or university and one year of experience working with adultlearners providing educational and/or career advisement,maintaining a caseload, and facilitating in-person or onlinepresentations OR Three years of experience working with adultlearners providing educational and/or career advisement, managing acaseload, and facilitating in-person or online presentations ORThree years of experience working within a labor-managementtraining and education environment OR A satisfactory equivalentcombination of appropriate experience and education as determinedby the

NYS & CSEA
