Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:

• Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job in the classroom and on the playground/adaptive physical education
• High School Diploma
• Experience working in a school setting with multiple disabilities/visual impairments
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Maintains confidentiality in regard to student records
• Displays flexibility, patience, good judgement and dependability
• Responds appropriately in crisis situations
• Follows all employment guidelines
• Represents himself/herself professionally at all times

Responsibilities:

• Follow daily routines under the direction of the Classroom Teacher
• Accompany students to special classes (Art, Music, and Adaptive Physical Education) and assist with activities
• Assist students with behavioral/management needs including data collection
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials
• Provide toileting, feeding, physical care, and health related activities for and with students in the classroom, lunchroom, playground, and special classes. This includes transfer and lifting of students when necessary.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings and staff conference days
• Assist in cleaning and maintaining the classroom equipment as assigned by the Classroom Teacher
• Substitute for the Classroom Teacher as designated by Administrative Personnel Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Salary rate: $26,000 for 10-month program plus additional $4,262.

40 for 2-month summer program.
