Duties Description Region 5 anticipates filling a permanent Program Aide in the Regional Construction Group. A Program Aide performs a variety of substantive professional, technical and administrative duties under the supervision and guidance of professional staffing, agency specific programs, or in administrative areas such as finance, budgeting, or human resources. Duties will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Purchase materials and supplies for the Regional Construction Office, The Technical Services Laboratory and field offices in accordance with OGS and OSC procedures. Use of SFS, reconcile invoices with charges, create purchase orders as needed
  • Develop, maintain and update databases as required for specific programs
  • Prepare postings and source candidates for job vacancies for permanent positions and seasonal TCI positions.
  • Coordinate regional group winter assignment requests with construction supervisors and prepare employee winter assignment notices
  • Provide support to Construction Environmental Coordinator and for the Construction Safety Coordinator, which includes distributing Work Zone Review Reports, scheduling hearing tests, and sending appointment notifications to staff.
  • Serve as Construction Group’s liaison with the Regional Administrative Services Group and the Main Office Employee Relations Bureau.
  • Track evaluations of all construction employees Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
  • To be considered for appointment through NY HELPS, or 55 b/c, candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position.

The qualifications are 3 years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment. Candidates may also be qualified for permanent competitive appointment if reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
