Description:

We are a small, vibrant early childhood program nestled in the heart of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, serving a mixed-age group of children ages 2 years to 5 years old. We are offering 2 positions and are excited to welcome a full-time Preschool Teacher and Assistant Teacher (part of full time) who are compassionate, responsive, and reliable to work collaboratively with our team, parents and affiliates to provide a nurturing, engaging environment while implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Both positions are year-round (Monday-Friday)
Full Time Shift 8:00 AM to 5 PM, or 9:00AM to 5PM, with one-hour lunch break
Part Time Shift 8:00 AM to 1:30PM or 1:00PM to 5PM (must be flexible to work additional hours as needed)

Responsibilities:

Your Role
As part of our teaching team, you’ll help create a calm, joyful classroom where children feel safe, seen, and supported.

You will:

Bring joy, warmth, and a nurturing presence to the classroom
Engage with children in meaningful, developmentally-appropriate ways
Ensure active supervision and safety throughout the day
Maintain a calm, curious, and respectful approach to children and families
Support the planning and implementation of engaging curriculum
Prepare the classroom with care, ensuring materials are clean and organized
Guide children through daily routines such as meals, toileting, and handwashing
Participate in diapering and assist with self-care tasks
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks
Clean, sanitize, and disinfect classroom areas as needed
Collaborate closely with fellow teachers, families, and program affiliates
Document observations, complete reports, and lead parent-teacher conferences
Provide families with daily updates and supportive feedback
Assist with health inspections and Department of Health visits
Complete ongoing training and professional development
Embrace additional responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who bring warmth, curiosity, and dedication to their work with young children. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old

For Preschool Teacher:

Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or actively pursuing)

For Assistant Teacher:

High School Diploma
At least 2 years of experience working with young children
Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting with the Department of Health
Valid Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)
Three professional references (at least one must be from a child-related role)
Able to bend, lift up to 30 lbs, and be physically active throughout the day (including outdoor play) Why Join Almond Tree?
