Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary
NY HELPS
employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS
will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS
title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Brief Description of Duties:
SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Program Aide to support our Business Office. Program Aides perform a variety of substantive professional, technical, and administrative duties under the supervision and guidance of professional staff. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Responsible for RF grant post-award processes and activities including purchasing, travel and accounts payable. + Responsible for setting up grants with the RF in Albany. + Responsible for using and reconciling RF purchasing cards. + Assists with the grant pre-award process. Attends various grant meetings and provides guidance on RF related procedures and policies to the campus. + Responsible for cash transmittals and category refunds for select RF grants that require this. + Responsible for providing oversight of active RF grants to include the monitoring of grant expenditures. Also generates regular reports for RF grants for Principal Investigators (PIs). + Responsible for closing out and finalization of grant awards with the RF. + Attends periodic conferences and trainings with the RF. + Back-up for Accounts Payable department. + Supervises the RF grant support position. + Responsible for the business office work orders + Participates in the campus safety committee and the workplace violence prevention + advisory team. + Back-up for State p-card purchases and payments. + Responsible for processing UUP Individual Development Award Reimbursement + JP Morgan security administrator: assisting new card holders getting the cards (new or replacement) and changing levels available for purchasing. + Training travelers in SUNY regulations regarding traveling and documentation needed
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications + Open-Competitive (Non-NY HELPS Appointed):
Transition:
one year of permanent competitive service in a clerical, keyboarding, secretarial, or paraprofessional title allocated to Grade 5 or higher. + Non-Competitive (NY-HELPS Appointed): Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.
