Would you like to teach in a warm and nurturing learning environment where teachers are supported and creativity is encouraged? ABC is currently seeking a qualified Assistant Teacher at the Graham School (1841 Park Avenue) to support preschool children ages 3-5, some with IEP’s.
Responsibilities:
Job Description Create a nurturing, engaging and developmentally appropriate early childhood environment for preschool children
Observe, assess, and document each child’s health, skills, behavior, growth, and development
Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy classroom environment
Assist in the development of the program’s educational curriculum in collaboration with Lead Teachers Related Service Providers, and other classroom staff.
Plan and implement activities that support the social, emotional, physical, language, and cognitive development of each child
Encourage parental participation and develop partnerships with families
Maintain daily attendance and meal participation counts
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements of the Assistant Teacher Preschool CDA, OR an Associate’s in Early Childhood required. A NYS Teaching Assistant Certification preferred.
Spanish fluency preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood and special education curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice for 0-4 age group
Ability to work as a cooperative and supportive team member
Ability to communicate and cooperate with parents
Minimum Education Level:
CDA Credential (with credit-bearing certificate)
Preferred Education Level:
Associate’s Degree
