Position Overview:

The Head Teacher will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the classroom, implementing developmentally appropriate practices, and fostering a positive, engaging environment for children, families, and staff. This role includes mentoring assistant teachers, maintaining compliance with state regulations, and promoting high-quality early childhood education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote learning and development
• Supervise and support assistant teachers and classroom aides
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment
• Maintain accurate records for attendance, incidents, and developmental milestones
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding child progress and classroom updates
• Model appropriate behavior and professionalism for staff and children
• Monitor classroom ratios and ensure compliance with OCFS and Forever Young policies

Qualifications:

• Proven childcare experience (minimum of 1 year in a licensed childcare setting preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED required; CDA or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and classroom management skills
• Understanding of child development and positive guidance strategies
• Must be reliable, nurturing, and able to work as part of a team
