Assistant Teacher Position The Larchmont Avenue Church Preschool 60 Forest Park Avenue, Larchmont, NY 10538 Teaching Assistants are valued members of our teaching staff. They assist their teaching team in the following ways: 1. Assisting in the planning and executing of a developmentally appropriate program for the preschoolers. 2. Helping the teacher meet the needs of the group as well as those of the individual child. 3. Helping the teacher observe, identify and respond to the needs of the child as an individual 4. Assisting the teacher in helping each child develop a positive self-image. 5. Communicating appropriately with the child. 6. Treating all children with dignity and respect. 7. Helping the child become aware of his/her role as an integral part of a class. 8. Helping the teacher use a positive approach. 9. Assisting in the planning and conducting of daily experiences for the child that are based upon developmentally appropriate curricula by: 10. Assisting in the planning and maintenance of a physical environment that is conducive to meeting the objectives of the Pre-School by: a. Maintaining a neat and attractively decorated classroom. b. Assisting in the organization of space into developmentally appropriate functional areas.
