The recently redesigned BRIDGE School at Rye Brook is seeking an adult who wants to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities. EDUCATION
High School Diploma or G.E.D required
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with children with disabilities preferred. Licenses/Certification Certification as a Teacher Assistant preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to employees’ questions. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must have the ability to transfer individuals independently, with a mechanical lift or with the assistance of another staff person. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements include:
Fluent in English speaking and writing High energy and comfortable dressing down (sneakers welcome!) Caring and patient with children with special needs
Desired Experience:
Previous experience working with children with special needs: 1 year or more (Preferred) Positive, cheerful personality Previous work as a teacher aide: 1 year or more (Preferred)
