Full Job Description Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Assistant Pottery Instructors & Studio Technicians to join our creative community. This dual-role position supports both the teaching team and studio operations. You will assist the Lead Instructor in delivering engaging, high-quality pottery classes and help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient studio environment. This position requires strong pottery skills, a positive attitude, excellent communication, and a commitment to teamwork and studio care. Applicants MUST have pottery experience as well as weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities:

Assistant Instructor Greet students with warmth and enthusiasm and help them get settled for classes. Assist the Lead Instructor during classes by supporting demonstrations and offering one-on-one help. Help create an inclusive, supportive learning environment for students of all levels and backgrounds. Work with students who have special needs or learning challenges. Prepare materials and set up tools, clay, and equipment prior to class. Guide students in basic techniques.

Studio Technician Duties:

Maintain studio cleanliness throughout the day, including floors, wheels, tools, and surfaces. Mix and test studio glazes accurately and safely in accordance with studio procedures. Recycle and wedge clay according to studio standards. Load and unload kilns with care and efficiency (training available if needed). Keep storage areas, tools, and equipment organized and in good condition. Track inventory and alert the manager when supplies are low. Provide excellent customer service and support for students and studio visitors. Answer phones with professionalism and kindness. Support paint-a-pot and walk-in guests when needed.

Requirements & Qualifications:

General pottery experience, including basic wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing are required. Studio experience with glaze mixing and clay recycling preferred. Previous experience as a studio tech, assistant instructor, or in a similar role preferred. Friendly, dependable, and proactive with a strong work ethic. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of age groups. Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team. Teaching experience a plus, but not required.
