COMMUNITY ASSISTANT TEACHER

) Seeking a passionate assistant teacher with a deep respect and love for all children and a firm belief in the potential of every child to thrive. DETAILS Full Time, M-F, 8:15 am – 3:30 pm (year round, including summer program) Guaranteed time off during fall, winter, and spring breaks, plus 1-2 weeks of summer. Plus, an additional 10 days PTO to schedule according to your needs. On-site training, no direct experience in Montessori learning required. Additional employment opportunities in before/after school programming available. Starting August 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

2 years of experience working with children preferred

Clearances:

Criminal background clearances and childcare staff health assessment required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Teacher will: Assist the Head Teacher to provide an organized, safe, and nurturing environment for the children, that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. Work with the Head Teacher to foster an environment which responds to children’s individual developmental levels, physical and emotional needs, and current interests. Assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment. Engage and communicate constructively with individual children during activities and routines. Take every opportunity to positively extend children’s thinking, learning and behaviors. Assist the children in maintaining person hygiene, including both toilet learning and diaper changes. Enjoy opportunities to grow professionally through on-site training, empowered decision making, and collaborative work.
