Assistant Daycare Teacher (Aide) – Young Toddlers or Older Toddlers/PreK Barnyard Buddies Daycare LLC Jermyn, PA 18433
Position Summary:
The Assistant Daycare Teacher Aide supports the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for young toddlers (1-2) or Older Toddlers/PreK (2.5 – 5 years old). This role assists with caregiving routines, helps supervise children during daily activities, and promotes emotional and physical well-being in accordance with Barnyard Buddies Daycare standards. This is an entry-to-mid-level support position and may not supervise children alone.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher with caregiving routines including diapering, toileting, feeding, and rest time Support age-appropriate learning and play experiences under direction of the Lead Teacher Supervise children during play, meals, transitions, and outdoor time while maintaining safety Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment Support positive behavior guidance and social-emotional development Assist with sanitizing toys, surfaces, and classroom materials daily Communicate respectfully and professionally with families, coworkers, and supervisors Participate in emergency drills and safety procedures as assigned Attend required staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development Follow all Barnyard Buddies Daycare policies, procedures, and licensing regulations. Assistant Teachers who complete 12 months in the role and meet the 2-year experience mark (or CDA/degree equivalent) are eligible to apply for promotion to Teacher.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED Minimum of 250 documented hours (approx. 6-12 months) of experience in a licensed child care setting Ability to pass all required state and federal background checks and health clearances Willingness to obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification within 60 days of hire Commitment to completing required state training hours within required timelines
Preferred Qualifications:
CDA credential or current enrollment in a related ECE program Prior experience working with specific age groups in a childcare setting Familiarity with the PA Early Learning Standards and/or Keystone STARS program
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Stand, kneel, bend, and sit on the floor throughout the day Supervise children indoors and outdoors in all seasons
