Description
OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Special Education Teacher of Life Skills and Autistic Support teacher is the lead teacher in the Life Skills/Autistic Support classroom. This position reports directly to the Special Education Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education – completed or in progress.
Communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Federal, state, and child abuse background checks required.
Minimum one year experience working with students with autism and intellectual disabilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS
Responsible for development and coordination of individualized academic, behavioral and social programming
Determine student progress by collecting and monitoring appropriate data.
Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Possess a caring nature while teaching the students with autism and intellectual disabilities
Good communication skills to facilitate positive family interactions
Create and implement appropriate and engaging lessons designed to meet the individual needs of students
Able to adapt to change
Supervise instructional support staff within your classroom
