Hiring:
Traveling Teacher Assistant ; Summer Furlough (Donora, Charleroi, Mon Valley YMCA, CIW, Maple Terrace, Lemoyne)
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
A high school diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree in Early Childhood or related field, CDA preferred. Prefer one (1) year of experience working with children 0-5 years old in a professional capacity and/or one (1) year of volunteer service in a Head Start or Early Head Start classroom. Position will require by September 30, 2013: (a) at least a child development associate credential; (b) enrolled, and remain enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree; or (c) enrolled, and remain enrolled in a child development associate credential program to be completed within 2 years. Position will require within 1 year: training course(s) that focus’ on supporting behavioral needs in early childhood settings.
WORK WEEK
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM- 3:30 PM
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Responsible for providing support in a variety of classrooms based on program needs (i.e. classroom coverage, behavioral support, etc.). Responsible for assisting in maintaining ratio and active supervision at all times. Interact positively with children, families, and teaching staff to promote a high quality, supportive early learning environment. Actively participate in the classroom activities to promote growth & development of the children enrolled. Exhibit an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices throughout the daily schedule and routines in the early learning settings. Demonstrates and model’s self-regulation strategies and techniques. Provide positive behavioral supports to the early learning settings as assigned by the Education Team (i.e. third person support, one on one supports, etc.). Positively redirects and deescalates behavior using appropriate PBIS and Pyramid Model Practices. Implement strategies from the individual/classroom behavior plan as developed by the Education Team and/or mental health consultants. Demonstrates understanding and proper application of specialist behavioral trainings.
