Workforce Partnerships Job Summary The Division of Workforce Partnerships is looking for teaching assistants for their proprietary Medical Assistant workforce training program and other proprietary healthcare training programs as needed. The teacher assistant will be responsible for supporting the healthcare instructor by ensuring all learning outcomes are successfully achieved by our students and that they are properly prepared for success within the healthcare field. The teacher assistant will work side-by-side with instructors and program staff to ensure that programs have successful outcomes and that students receive high quality education. This role is in response to employer demand and can include day, evening and/or weekend hours. The healthcare teacher assistant will be responsible for communicating what shifts they are available to work and ensure that they are able to work all classes that they agree to instruct. Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
Conduct themselves professionally in a classroom setting and fairly apply college policies regarding student performance and conduct.
Communicate class content utilizing a variety of teaching methods so that learning occurs, skills are developed, and students are motivated to learn and achieve their educational and employment objectives.
Support the instructor in the delivery of effective lessons and assist in addressing student needs as they arise.
Assist in the integration of technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction.
Support the classroom by ensuring equipment and supply inventory is properly documented, labelled, maintained, prepared before class, and properly stowed away at the end of class
Support the classroom by ensuring the facility, lab, and equipment is kept clean and sanitary. Report broken equipment to the program staff immediately.
Assist in maintaining detailed and organized records of students’ attendance, assessments, and progress, including a final evaluation.
Collaborate with the program staff and attend meetings as needed.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Experience in a healthcare environment (medical or nursing) for a minimum of 3 years.
Interest in preparing and training the next generation of entry-level medical support staff.
Intermediate digital communication technology skills (presentation tools, online meetings, etc.)
Experience with classroom/team management.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, primarily), email, the internet for instruction and program purposes.
Creativity and flexibility in the classroom is expected.
Competencies
Associates Degree or above.
Experience in peer training, or on-the-job mentoring.
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Experience in an healthcare environment (dental or medical) for 5+ years.
Shift, Days, and Additional Work Schedule Information:
Up to 19 hours per week (925 hours maximum per year, not guaranteed)
Salary/Hourly Rate:
