We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher to join our vibrant Montessori classroom. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and a deep respect for the Montessori philosophy, supporting children in their natural development and fostering a love for learning. As a Pre-Primary Assistant Teacher, you will work alongside the Lead Montessori Teacher to create a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment for children aged 18 months-3 years. Your role will involve helping to facilitate daily classroom activities, supporting individual student needs, maintaining a safe and organized learning environment, and ensuring that each child feels valued and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Montessori Teacher in the preparation and presentation of Montessori materials and lessons. Support children in engaging with Montessori activities, providing guidance and encouragement as they work independently. Help supervise students during classroom work, transitions, and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging social-emotional development and respect for others. Observe and document individual children’s progress, helping to identify their needs and interests. Assist with classroom organization, including cleaning and maintaining materials and learning spaces. Communicate with parents about students’ progress and any concerns, when necessary. Help maintain a calm and orderly classroom atmosphere that aligns with Montessori principles. Collaborate with fellow staff members in a supportive and cooperative manner.
Qualifications:
Experience working with young children, preferably in a Montessori setting. Understanding of Montessori philosophy and methods is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude towards children. High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certification in early childhood education or Montessori training is a plus. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
