This position is located in the Motor Carrier Information Center – Headquarters, Blythewood, SC. Responsibilities of the Motor Carrier Information Specialist III Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding their Motor Carrier Services (MCS) accounts, with a focus on IRP (International Registration Plan) and IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) inquiries, while consistently meeting established productivity and service quality standards. Review customer accounts and documents to ensure they meet state and FMCSA requirements before issuing credentials or processing transactions. Verifies carrier’s status utilizing FMCSA/PRISM and/or other state/federal system applications prior to issuing credentials. Ensures customer account is updated and accurate in MCS system (i.e., suspended, closed, revoked, out of service, etc.). Assist customers with resetting passwords and accessing the online MCS portal. Respond to emails in a timely manner and help with daily office tasks. Reconcile inventory and complete end-of-day transaction reports. Acquire and apply comprehensive knowledge of applicable state laws, FMCSA regulations, internal polices and processes, and supporting systems to effectively resolve customer concerns. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the DMV and MCS programs, internal systems, and relevant regulations. Accurately track and report daily performance metrics in accordance with departmental expectations. Performs other duties as required by management. Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required program experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience. Agency Requirements Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include finger printing. Additional Requirements Ability to learn and explain policy and procedures to MCS customers. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Proficient in basic computer skills. Must have technical ability to properly operate multi-line phone set with headset. Works under general supervision after a period of training. Must ensure that the SCDMV policies and operational procedures are followed. Works in general office environment. May be required to work extended hours outside of normal scheduled work week. Must be able to lift 10-15lbs. The work requires sitting for prolonged periods of time and significant time spent at a computer terminal.
