Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

Possess an Associate (or higher) degree, have completed sixty (60) hours from an accredited institution or have successfully completed the Paraprofessional Test.
Demonstrate interest in and aptitude for work to be performed.
A good knowledge of and understanding of child growth and development; or any equivalent combination and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators.

Pre-K Teacher, Principal

JOB GOAL

Provide support to the Pre-K teacher in creating a positive and effective learning environment for students by supporting curriculum implementation, while providing support, guidance, and care within a nurturing and educational environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate the ability to perform remedial instruction or tasks to reinforce learning initiated by the teacher, with one or small groups of student(s).
Assists with language and social development.
Under the supervision of teacher, prepare for classroom activities, not limited to, distribute, and collect appropriate materials, set up the classroom for instructional projects, prepare, compile, and make copies of instructional materials and reports.
Assists teacher with academic instruction and classroom activities.
Observe and assist individual students that are experiencing difficulties.
Support daily routines.
Perform clerical duties.
Provides physical assistance to students including but not limited to toileting and self-help associated with school activities.
Participate in in-service training programs required by CERDEP.
Assist with the screening process of students for possible Pre-K enrollment.
Effectively supervise playground activities, monitor students in the cafeteria, during rest periods, during transitions, and during related arts.
Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by the teacher or program director for the effective operation of the classroom.

Foster Park Elementary School

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

One hundred eighty (180) days per year
Seven (7.0) hours per day
Salary Grade C

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
