Correctional Officer Instructor, Full-Time The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Elizabethton is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Associate Instructor of Criminal Justice to join our team. This position involves teaching courses within the Criminal Justice program, providing academic support to students, and contributing to program development. The ideal candidate will have real-world experience in the criminal justice field and a passion for student success at the technical college level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver engaging and effective instruction in a variety of Criminal Justice subjects
Develop and update course materials, syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with institutional and accreditation standards
Utilize various instructional methods and technologies to meet diverse student learning styles
Evaluate student performance and provide timely and constructive feedback
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress
Support and advise students academically and professionally
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, professional development, and institutional initiatives
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
Maintain industry knowledge and credentials to ensure up-to-date instruction
Assist with student placement and student follow-up
Work with program advisory committees
Conduct visits to area employers
Comply with college policies and procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required, associate’s degree a plus.
At least three (3) years of experience working in the criminal justice system (law enforcement, corrections, courts, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues
Commitment to supporting student learning and success in a technical college setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a closely related field
Teaching experience at the postsecondary level
Professional certifications or specialized training in areas relevant to course content
Experience working with diverse populations or non-traditional students
SALARY:
Associate Instructor (A) $50,894 – $61,074, Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines with education and experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Instructional support hours are expected during Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Normal standing, sitting, and walking
Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects. Requires operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and to other locations as needed for instructional or professional purposes.
