JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students. The Assistant Teacher will assist with daily classroom activities, provide individualized support to students, and help maintain an organized and safe classroom setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    Classroom Support:

    Assist the lead teacher with lesson planning, instructional activities, and classroom management.

      Student Assistance:

      Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning concepts and provide additional support.

        Behavior Management:

        Support the lead teacher in managing student behavior in a manner consistent with school policies and fostering a positive learning environment.

          Preparation of Materials:

          Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources needed for lessons and classroom activities.

            Supervision:

            Monitor students during transitions, lunch, recess, or other activities to ensure safety and adherence to school rules.

              Administrative Tasks:

              Assist with grading assignments, maintaining student records, and communicating with parents as directed by the lead teacher.

                Classroom Environment:

                Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom that promotes learning and respect.

                JOB REQUIREMENTS
                Education:
                • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
                Experience:
                • Prior experience working with children in a classroom or similar setting is strongly preferred.
                Required Skills & Abilities:
                • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
                • Creativity in planning and implementing activities
                • Basic conflict resolutions skills
                Licenses/Certifications:
                • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
                FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS
                Environmental Work Conditions :
                • Normal school-based conditions with adequate lighting and ventilation
                • Frequent standing and walking to supervise and engage with students
                • Bending, crouching, and kneeling to assist children with tasks and participate in activities
                • Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds (e.g. educational materials, supplies, etc.)
                • Occasional sitting during planning or instructional time.
