Associate Instructor Evening Welding Dickson 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 740 Highway 46 South, Dickson, TN 37055 The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor for a new Evening Welding Technology program at the Dickson Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered. Minimum three (3) years of experience in the welding field within the last five (5) years. Must possess all required certifications for the field or the ability to become certified within three (3) calendar months. CWE and CWI certifications a plus. Must possess computer skills. Strong hands-on technical background in field of instruction. Must possess a high degree of knowledge in the following areas: shielded metal arc (STICK), gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG) and flux cored arc welding; symbols and blueprint reading; cutting techniques; grinding; metal preparation; metallurgy; layout; fabrication; power tools; and measurement techniques. SKILLS Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students. Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality. Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s). Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

GENERAL DUTIES

The Evening Welding Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing in-person individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include shielded metal arc (STICK), gas metal arc (MIG), tungsten inert gas (TIG) and flux cored arc welding; symbols and blueprint reading; cutting techniques; grinding; metal preparation; metallurgy; layout; fabrication; power tools; and measurement techniques. The Evening Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The Evening Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies. This position also supervises and follows up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel may be required. This position is full-time and reports to the Vice President of Academics and Compliance. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 2:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is not a remote work position. Anticipated start date August 2025.

SALARY:

$50,894-$61,074 per year ($26.10-$31.32 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and based on related experience.
