Part-time (up to 20 hours per week) Onsite on Sundays and staff meetings, with occasional onsite responsibilities Wednesday evenings (8-10 times a year), work from home available otherwise

Pay:

$25/hr Westminster Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN is seeking a part-time Assistant Director who is passionate about working with children (birth through 5th grade) and families to foster strong relationships with God and one another. Westminster Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) that seeks to follow Jesus Christ in an open and inclusive community of faith where God’s transforming love for all creation is celebrated through worship, discipleship, and service. We have a large and growing children’s program. We regularly see 15-25 children pass through our doors every Sunday. The church also has many deeply committed volunteers and parents as well as a full staff who are eager to see our children’s program flourish.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Helping with lesson planning and setting up classrooms
• Assisting in leading activities such as faith lessons, creative arts, Bible stories, and recreation to help children grow in their faith
• Serve as a Sunday school teacher (10:00) and be the primary teacher for Children’s Church (11:30), while working with parents and other volunteers to ensure teacher coverage in all children’s classes
• Arrange nursery schedule for Sundays and other days as needed
• Arrange the schedule for Time with Children during worship and occasionally lead Time with Children lessons
• Ensure all children’s programs are in compliance with Westminster’s child safety procedures Applicants must be available to work onsite Sunday mornings and attend weekday staff meetings.
