S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment and develop and Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their families. The PS 4 Assistant teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and is responsible for assisting in implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director. Duties Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children. Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports. Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling. Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Requirements Professional teaching experience in a private, public, Montessori preschool or elementary school High energy. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. A strong understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. Must clear full background check. Must pass health screening. Plan and be prepare for daily and weekly lesson Nice To Haves CDA, AA, BS, BA, or MA degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, Elementary or related field 3+ years teaching experience in a preschool or elementary school Benefits Work hours Monday-Friday 8:30-2:00 Children attend 9-1:30 Calendar closely follows local public school annual calendar (164 instructional days, 10 in-service days, 28 holidays for a total of 202 days for employment agreement) Opportunity to earn extra money for Stay and Play after school 1:30-2:30 Paid holidays: Labor Day, 5 days Fall Break, 3 days Thanksgiving, 10 days Christmas, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther, Presidents’, 5 days spring break, 2 days Easter
