S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment and develop and maintain a positive relationship with the children and families. The PS 6 Assistant teacher observes and documents children’s interest and progress and is responsible for assisting in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Lead Teacher and the Director. Duties Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children. Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports. Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling. Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Requirements Professional teaching experience in a private, public, Montessori preschool or elementary school High energy. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. A strong understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. Must clear full background check. Must pass health screening Plan and be prepared for daily and weekly lesson plans Nice To Haves CDA,AA,BS,BA, or MA degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, Elementary Education or related field 3+ years teaching experience in a preschool or elementary school Benefits Work hours8:30-2:00 Monday-Friday Children attend 9-1:30 Calendar closely follows local public school annual calendar (164 instructional days, 10 in-service, 28 holidays for a total of 202 days of employment agreement)
