Job Description
Barnet School is a PreK-8 school that sits upon 90 acres of land. The school accesses the outdoor environment as a means for students to gain academic skills. We seek a talented and enthusiastic paraeducator to join our team of highly qualified educators.
The right candidates will enjoy working with students in the elementary-middle grades, keep the students engaged in learning throughout the school day and assist with academic achievements of the students. The paraeducators work in group settings, classroom settings and one-on-one with individual students. We seek motivated, captivating individuals that will enhance the students school day experience.

Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Building Administrator and with direction from one or more teachers, the Paraprofessional -SPED assists in achieving instructional objectives by working with individual students or small groups to promote their achievement and overall success.

The Paraprofessional is expected to assist the classrooms with maintaining a warm and nurturing relationship with each child, supporting an environment that stimulates curiosity and celebrates diversity, and participating in a dynamic, student-centered curriculum that is grounded in hands-on exploration and play.
Job Duties
Provide student assistance.
Work with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work in collaboration with the teacher.
Assist with the reasonable supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, field trips, and instructional activities.
Assist with other student needs.
Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students.
Assist students in the library or media center.
Help students with daily living and self-help skills.
Collaborate with the student(s) IEP team.
Assist with maintaining an appropriate classroom environment.
Check notebooks, supervise testing and make-up work, relate to executive functioning skills.
On an as-needed basis, ride in school transportation with a student
Support and demonstrate core values of Caledonia Central Supervisory Union
Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to position.
Respond promptly and thoroughly to written and oral requests for information.
Maintain a clean, neat appearance, appropriate to position.
Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
Serve as an optimal role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
Work in close harmony with colleagues, supervisors, and co-workers.
Comply with all District and School policies and regulations, including but not limited to guidelines for confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma, or G.E.D. or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 years of relevant experience preferred
Associate degree preferred

Ability to interpret special education IEPs and evaluation reports

Basic reading and computation skills, and appropriate oral and written expression; thorough knowledge of English grammar and usage.

Physical Requirements
Work environment is in a mixed environment, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
The work is light/moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 30 pounds of force to move or lift objects.

Paraprofessionals – SPED are hired in a full-time capacity, 178 days during the school year
