Position Summary
The mathematics tutor will provide tutoring, both individually and in a group setting to students while collaborating with teachers. They will assist students professionally, effectively, and efficiently to ensure their success in their assigned math classes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential job functions listed are notprehensive and duties and responsibilities may change without notice.

Essential Job Functions:

Provide individual and group tutoring in conjunction with classroom instructors.
Track the attendance of students tutored daily in academic areas.
Familiarize developmental and orientation classes on tutorial services as well asputer usage provided by the Learning Assistance Center (LAC).
Review and rmend course software and/or web applications as well as with other materials for students’ use.
Prepare and assist students with tutorial aids including but not limited to workbooks, handouts, study guides, graphs, andputer programs.
Assemble data for monthly and quarterly reports to show effectiveness of area.
Schedule and proctor Accuplacer test.
Meet regularly with course instructors for coordination and instructional direction.
Monitor the LAC lab for proper use conducive to a good study atmosp.
Assume other professional responsibilities as needed or directed by supervisor.
Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and Bishop State Community College.
Other duties as assigned by the LAC/Peer Tutor Coordinator, Dean of Instruction, and/or the President.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Eighteen (18) semester hours in Mathematics from an accredited institution.

Preferred Kledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work cooperatively with all students, faculty, and staff.
Strong verbal and writtenmunication skills.
Experience in Student Support Programs and/or Developmental Education.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Work is generally performed in an office environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Learned physical skill is required for keyboarding. Frequent walking, standing, or sitting may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
