2025-2026 LEC Peer Tutor 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Montevallo, AL 35115 Department Learning Enrichment Rate of Pay $9 hourly FLSA Non-Exempt Estimated Number of Hours Per Week Employment Status Part Time Temporary Student Appointment Type Jobship and Work-Study General Description Provide students with individual and group tutoring services. Peer tutors may be hired from this posting throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. Essential Job Duties Provide students with individual and group tutoring services. Tutor students in both face-to-face and online contexts as needed. Coach students to become independent and confident learners by helping them improve study habits and skills. Provide an encouraging environment for students to learn. Peer tutors must be able to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must have completed a minimum of one semester of college coursework, preferably at UM. Must have previously completed the course(s) you wish to tutor and earned a final grade of “A” in the course(s). Must have and maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Must have strong interpersonal communication skills to assess needs of clients and make plans of action to address their academic needs. Possess good study habits. Acumen to teach and desire to help others. Must be reliable and punctual.
