Job Description

Advanced Mathematics Tutor Huntington Learning Center Lake Nona 13848 Narcoossee Road, Orlando, FL 32832 Math Tutor for SAT/ACT Seeking tutors with excellent skills in Algebra 2, Geometry, Trig, and Calculus to tutor students in SAT/ACT math skills and strategies. Tutors need to be personable and able to explain math problems, concepts and processes. Candidates will take a digital SAT/ACT math test. Strongly preferred that tutor previously scored 650-700+ in SAT math. Training on new digital test format and Huntington approach provided. Since 1977 Huntington Learning Center has helped meet students’ individual learning needs. The result is demonstrable gains in learning, as well as gains in confidence and motivation. Students begin with a diagnostic academic evaluation, Huntington develops a plan based on the evaluation findings, and then tutors work with students to methodically build each student’s academic skills according to that plan. Part time opportunities afternoons, evenings, Saturdays, and summer holidays. Pay is $16-22/hour, depending on skills, experience, and demonstrated efficacy.

Excellent higher level math skills, Algebra through Calc BC preferred Can explain math, and adapt teaching style/techniques to match a student’s understanding Excellent interpersonal skills: patience, empathy, flexibility, and the ability to build rapport Experience working in a classroom setting or providing instruction to groups of students, and people with varied learning profiles

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in SAT prep, ACT prep, and higher level math and science Implement and adapt Huntington’s lesson plans Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment Use effective classroom management techniques to promote a productive learning environment Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly Document students’ progress and accomplishments Communicate and collaborate with staff to ensure student success, and progress according to schedule and Huntington lesson plan If you are passionate about education and have experience working high school students, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding tutoring position.
