This job is a temporary, non-benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Academic Affairs Division that reports to the Coordinator of the Academic Support Lab. This position will work at the Lawrenceville location of Gwinnett Technical College.
Hours:
May work up to 19 hours a week depending on business needs.
Salary:
$15.60/hour Minimum Qualifications (
Job Code:
H1001) Successful completion of 6 or more credit hours of courses in English, humanities, or social sciences with a “B” or higher. Ability to explain English and Writing concepts. Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to form good working relationships with peers and students. Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds. Ability to coach study skills and behavior toward successful course completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English and previous college-level tutoring experience.
Job Description Summary:
Under general supervision, Aid students in understanding English/Writing concepts introduced to them in the courses offered at Gwinnett Technical College.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Provides oral and written reports as required. 5 Performs basic administrative/clerical tasks to support the daily operation of the computer lab. 5 Carefully listens to student(s) and offers encouragement and support. 25 Maintains a positive, warm attitude that encourages the student(s) to learn. 25 Informs appropriate staff about changes in meeting times. 5 Performs basic administrative/clerical tasks to support the daily operations of the computer lab. 5 Establishes and maintains records/files relating to the program’s mission (daily sign in logs, if necessary). Operates computers, copiers, and other office equipment; performs routine user preventive maintenance on office equipment. Initiates, composes and accurately types correspondence and administrative documents according to established guidelines. 5 Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected. 20 Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College. 5
