Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Writing Tutor on the Gainesville campus. This position will tutor students in university-level composition and grammar. Assist students and faculty with all services provided by the Writing Center. Responsibilities Read student essays and make suggestions for improvement.
Instruct students on the proper use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Explain instructor corrections on assignments to students.
Answer questions about producing a Works Cited page.
Assist students in writing resumes and cover letters.
Assist in compiling end-of-semester statistical reports and data needed for the Annual Report.
Participate in appropriate professional development activities. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret student English compositions and works of literature.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English or English Education required.
Must have experience with Microsoft software, especially Microsoft Word required. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred.
