Title of Position:
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tutor – part time
Compensation:
Up to $25 per hour based on education and work experience. The Lisa Gorman English Language Learning Center at Central Maine Community College is seeking a dedicated English Language Tutor to support multilingual students whose first language is not English. The English Language Tutor provides one-on-one tutoring for multilingual learners, addressing their individual needs in a supportive and inclusive environment. Tutoring sessions may be held in person at the Learning Center or online. Tutors assist students with homework, essays, projects, and English Language proficiency. Expected hours are between 10 and 15 per week, depending on the availability of the selected applicant.
Other responsibilities include:
Academic support to students on the navigation of Brightspace Assess individual learning needs and adjust instruction accordingly Collaboration with classroom instructors to ensure coordinated academic support Develop or source instructional materials for Open Table English Conversation Group discussions Demonstrate a strong understanding of the language acquisition process, with a commitment to supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds and identities
Minimum Qualifications:
Fluent English speaker Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree TESOL certificate or equivalent, or 600 endorsements preferred
