Job Description:

The Student Learning Center (SLC) at SUNY Oneonta supports students in becoming confident, independent learners who can communicate effectively and reach their academic goals. The Center offers peer and professional tutoring across a range of subjects, as well as writing support, all within an inclusive and student-centered environment. These services are available to all enrolled SUNY Oneonta students and are designed to foster academic growth, personal development, and long-term success. To support this mission, the Center is hiring a Student Learning Center Coordinator to oversee peer and professional tutoring programs and assist with day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator will manage the Peer Tutoring Center, coordinate professional tutoring services, and contribute to the overall function and success of the office. To learn more about the University and the department, please visit https://suny.oneonta.edu/ or The Student Learning Center Duties include but are not limited to: Collaborate with the Director and Operations Manager to support the daily operations of the Student Learning Center. Oversee the Peer Tutoring Program, including hiring, scheduling, training, and supervising peer tutors. Coordinate professional tutoring appointments in partnership with the Director. Maintain up-to-date certification with the National Tutoring Association or College Reading and Learning Association. Utilize Banner and work with faculty to identify and recruit potential peer tutors. Communicate hiring needs, budget updates, and timeline changes to the Operations Manager and Director. Manage and troubleshoot tutor scheduling software to ensure accurate and efficient scheduling. Prepare weekly reports on tutoring program progress, including attendance data for peer tutoring and academic coaching. Develop and disseminate communications and promotional materials for the Peer Tutoring Program. Manage the Tutor Leadership Microcredentials, including offering required trainings each semester. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access. Occasionally work outside of regular hours- including evenings or weekends-for events such as orientations. Serve as the primary point of contact in the Director’s absence.

Salary:

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree Minimum 1 year experience with college academic support services Experience working with diverse populations

Additional:

Experience with the SUNY system

Preferred:

Experience using scheduling software or systems to manage appointments. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Familiarity with National Tutoring Association or College Reading and Learning Association certification. Experience working in a peer tutoring or peer mentor unit. Experience training student workers Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience hiring and managing student staff. Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives.
