Literacy Tutor Middle Tennessee Educational Therapy 2670 Memorial Boulevard, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 Middle Tennessee Educational Therapy is Murfreesboro’s center for literacy. We work with students of all ages to fill gaps in literacy skills. While we run a professional office, the atmosphere is caring and nurturing in order to build confidence in both students and parents as they journey towards building a strong literacy foundation. Middle Tennessee Educational Therapy also works with families and schools to develop academic plans of action that support the needs of struggling readers and writers. They inspire students to continue to grow their areas of strength while remediating reading and writing deficits. Teachers at our center are committed to student growth and building meaningful relationships with students and families. Our instructors are sensitive to a variety of learning styles and empower students to embrace those differences in order to become stronger readers and writers. Our ideal candidate has a strong mind, flexible approach, and caring heart to provide support to students with learning differences. Candidates should have experience with teaching students to read and write – especially in grades K-5. It is a huge plus for candidates to have training or certification in structured literacy programs that employ the Orton Gillingham approach. Tutors will be expected to work with clients one on one – typically in one hour sessions. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable with providing feedback to both students and parents in a professional manner in regard to session outcomes. It is imperative that tutors be able to maintain records and schedules. Candidates should be able to work ten to fifteen hours per week after school and possibly on Saturdays. The ability to plan, reflect, and collaborate is a must. We are willing to train and support a candidate that has a compassionate heart and love for teaching students from a variety of backgrounds.
