Principal Responsibilities:
Shalom Orlando is seeking experienced and reliable Basketball Referees to officiate games for our Adult Basketball League. Referees will ensure games are conducted safely, fairly, and in accordance with league rules while representing the values and professionalism of the JCC community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:
Officiate Adult league basketball games according to JCC-provided rules and guidelines.
Maintain control of the game environment by managing disputes and defusing conflict among players, spectators, and team captains.
Enforce rules consistently and fairly, including calling fouls and violations, issuing technical, and ejecting players when necessary.
Report inappropriate behavior or incidents to the League Coordinator.
Assist with set-up and clean-up of game equipment before and after games.
Arrive on time and adhere to the expected dress code.
Serve as a positive representative and role model within the JCC community.
Understand and follow emergency and safety protocols as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience officiating basketball games.
Strong knowledge of basketball rules and game flow.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure.
Good judgment and awareness of potentially risky situations.
Physical capability to run, move, and react quickly during games.
Additional Details:
This is a part-time, evening position with games typically scheduled on weeknights.
Must be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule during league seasons.
