Job Description

Athletic Leader Summary:

Leads youth and adult sports league programs and clinics. Work is performed under general supervision of the Athletics Coordinator. Requires a variety of work hours, including weekdays, weekends, and evenings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in developing and managing youth and adult sports league programs and clinics.
Works with community groups and volunteer parent associations to facilitate organized sports programs
Directs participants and personnel to appropriate field locations.
Ensures participants and organizations comply with all program and safety directives.
Resolves and troubleshoots issues within the youth and adult league programs, and coordinates with supervisor as necessary.
Assists in light maintenance duties.
Opens and closes complexes.
Maintains records, files, and reports in accordance with established methods and procedures.
Must be available for overtime and emergency call-outs when necessary.
Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts.
Meets attendance requirements.
Promotes positive customer service environment internally and externally.
Performs other job related functions as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Experience:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent recognized certificate, supplemented by two
years’ experience working with adult and youth sports and clinics.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possession of a valid Florida drivers’ license.
CPR and First Aid training to be completed within three months of hire.
Ability to interact in a positive manner with children and adults on a daily basis.
Knowledgeable in the proper coordination, implementation, and instruction of sports programs for both children and adults.
Ability to work independently, make effective decisions, and resolve problems effectively.

Physical Demands:

Sufficient physical ability to run, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods and under adverse weather conditions.
Ability to move up to 75 lbs. over a distance of 100 feet.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb, balance, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Sufficient auditory perception and speaking ability for radio communication.
