This on-call position offers a competitive pay of $19.80 per hour and the opportunity to enroll in the City and County of Denver's 457b retirement plan. Instructors will primarily lead group lessons at various recreation centers, emphasizing fundamental-based training and creating a fun and challenging environment for participants. The ideal candidate will have experience playing pickleball at an intermediate competitive level or higher, as well as experience in instructing pickleball and/or tennis. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with one year of experience in assisting with organized recreation activities. CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire is also necessary. This role requires availability during weeknights and weekends, punctuality, proactive communication, and a willingness to work with diverse participant groups.

Location In this position, you can expect to work on-site at various tennis facilities and recreation centers around the City and County of Denver. Pickleball programs are offered at the following facilities: Aztlan, Cook Park, Eisenhower, Harvard Gulch, La Familia, Martin Luther King Jr., Montclair, and Washington Park Recreation Centers. What We Offer The pay for this position is set at $19.80 per hour and is eligible to enroll in the City and County of Denver’s 457b retirement plan. This position is not eligible for other additional benefits. This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. On‐call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. Although these positions are flexible, they are year-round, and instructors will typically work at least 6 hours per week and no more than 39 hours per week. Core hours for programming typically occur Monday through Friday, between 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., depending on facility and season. Ranging from beginner level to competitive play, instruction is primarily done through group lessons focused on providing fundamental-based training while creating a fun and challenging atmosphere. As a Pickleball Instructor with CityWide Sports, you will: Plan and facilitate programs and activities at courts throughout Denver for spring, summer, and fall Motivate participants through positive language and encouragement of good sportsmanship Program adult and youth group lessons Participate in additional instruction opportunities, such as overseeing tournaments and other special events Commit to participant safety and be willing to enforce program rules and department policies, as appropriate What You’ll Bring We’re looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about sports. Our ideal candidate will have:

Experience in playing pickleball at an intermediate competitive level or higher Experience in instructing pickleball and/or tennis An enthusiasm to work with a diverse group of participants with varying levels of ability Availability during weeknights and weekends Punctuality and proactive communication ahead of all scheduled shifts Willingness to work multiple sites and regions Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement:

One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activities.

Education/Experience Equivalency:

Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

Licensure/Certifications:

Requires certification in CPR and First Aid within 6 months of date of hire. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
