Director of Career and Technical Education/Principal Job Goals:
To implement an educational program for the designated grade level and career technical subject area using the current designated course of study. To serve as an integral part of the school system facilitating instruction and career opportunities for students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructs students in vocational or technical education programs to perform the assigned duties. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress and records results. Demonstrates the ability to decide on the best use of methods and materials to help students acquire necessary skills, considering individual student’s different needs and abilities. Demonstrates qualities of patience, understanding, trustworthiness, and attention to work. Possesses a thorough knowledge of the subject to arouse the students interest. Issues reports to inform parents of student progress. Keeps attendance records. Maintains discipline in the classroom. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Provides instructions in workplace skills ( e.g. punctuality, interpersonal relationships, leadership, problem-solving, ethics and good work habits) Supports school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, events, ceremonies, services and programs. Maintains confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters per state and federal law. Exposes students to various careers and relevant opportunities. Sponsors a Career Technical Education Student Organization and participates in at least one program-related competition per year. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies and state and federal rules and regulations. Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, school and agency counselors and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students enrolled in the education setting. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university with certification appropriate for this area of study. Other qualifications based on the current Occupational Proficiencies; hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator certificate or eligible for CTE certification; and participate in the CTE_
