Job Description
Crawford County R-1 School District has an Industrial Arts/Agricultural Education Teacher/FFA Sponsor teaching position open in Bourbon High School. We offer a competitive salary schedule, benefits, and a positive work environment. All years of teaching experience are able to transfer into the district. The School District operates a 4-Day School Week schedule. Teaching requirements may include, but are not limited to, CDE’s, LDE’s, and adequate shop skills. Applicants must have a valid MO teaching certificate in the areas of instruction. The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant personal investment in providing quality instruction and building upon a rich tradition of a successful FFA Program.

Industrial Arts/Agricultural Education Teacher (Grades 9-12)

Contract:
Teacher Contract with extended days with FFA Stipend
Primary Function:
To create a flexible instructional program and a classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; and to guide students in developing skills and knowledge in agricultural education, welding, and industrial arts that promote academic and career readiness.

Qualifications:
Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Agricultural Education or Industrial Technology (or ability to obtain)
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field
Effective oral and written communication skills
Basic knowledge of the structure and functions of the National FFA Organization
Experience and/or interest in teaching welding, agricultural construction, agricultural food science, and Ag I
Ability to supervise and mentor students in CDEs, LDEs, and hands-on shop skills
Strong classroom and shop management skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide instruction in welding, ag construction, food science, and foundational agricultural classes
Serve as an FFA Advisor, supporting chapter activities, leadership development, and competitions
Create engaging lesson plans aligned with Missouri learning standards
Incorporate hands-on, project-based learning in shop and lab settings
Maintain accurate student records including attendance, assessments, and progress
Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school staff
Monitor and adapt teaching strategies based on student progress
Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom and lab/shop environment
Participate in school and district professional development
Assist in the development and coordination of school and community events related to agriculture and industry
Prepare plans and materials for substitute teachers
Travel between district buildings if needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Supervise students during class and at FFA-related activities and events
Serve on school or district committees as needed
Implement individualized education plans (IEPs/504s) as required
Promote career pathways and student leadership within the agriculture and technical trades
Terms of Employment:
Teacher contract and extended day contract
FFA sponsor stipend included
Employment recommendations made annually by the Building Principal and approved by the Board of Education
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board of Education policy for professional staff.
