Certified / ExemptSummaryDevelop compelling, innovative programs that engage and prepare individuals for successful business careers as members of a competent, globally competitive workforce. Provide support and reinforce basic academic and skill instruction. Instruct students in subject matter, utilizing various methods, such as lecture, cooperative learning and demonstration, guided practice. Use audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. Work collaboratively with government, community, business, and educational leaders at the national, state, and local levels to achieve universal acknowledgement that business knowledge is vital to the success of every individual and, therefore, is an essential component in all students education. Develop leadership qualities through professional growth of members including cooperation with extra-curricular organizations.•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to secondary pupils: typing, office procedures, accounting, business communications, data processing, and current computer applications or basic business.2. Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education.3. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.4. Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that instruction and mastery can be completed within the allotted time.5. Supports and encourages student participation in the FBLA student organization.6. Instructs pupils in use, care, and safe operation of computer technology equipment. Troubleshoots, in cooperation with district technology staff, minor computer issues and requests repairs as required.7. Maintains an auditable record of pupil attendance and makes daily reports using the school database system.8. Controls assigned district-owned office equipment and supplies to prevent loss or abuse.9. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment in the laboratory-type classroom where several kinds of activities may be taking place simultaneously.10. Instructs pupils in importance to employers of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits.11. Evaluates each pupils performance, knowledge, and skills in course being taught and prepares pupil progress reports and employment references.12. Maintains continued contact with colleges/universities and the business community to keep in touch with requirements and current business methods and equipment.13. Evaluates, selects, and requisitions books, instructional aides, equipment, and instructional supplies. Maintains required inventory records.14. Maintains professional competence through in-service, workshops, conferences, and education activities.15. Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.16. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.17. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.18. Part cipates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.19. Other duties as assigned by administrator.

QualificationsEducation/Experience/CertificatesBachelor’s Degree and valid Missouri teaching certificate required; or such alternative to these qualifications that the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills and AbilitiesLanguageMust have the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures/forms, and government regulations and guidelines. Must be able to complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents. Must have the ability to write clearly and complete lesson plans.

ComputationThe individual must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

ReasoningMust have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.

TechnologyThe individual must understand basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use. Will be using district software for recording grades and finding student information.
