Job Description
POSITION
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Cabarrus County school system is accepting applications for a position as an elementary school Academically/Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Education Program Teacher. This is a split position between two schools.

SALARY:
North Carolina Certified Teacher Salary Schedule
Local Teachers’ Supplement TERM OF
EMPLOYMENT:
Ten Months
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold or qualify to hold a minimum of a North Carolina Class A elementary teaching license
AIG licensure preferred but not required for initial employment
Meet expectation to pursue add-on AIG licensure during two-year probationary period
RESPONSIBILITIES
AND DUTIES:
−To instruct identified gifted students in grades 3-5 in a resource and inclusion setting following the Cabarrus County Schools’ Academically/Intellectually Gifted Service Plan;
−To instruct weekly enrichment lessons for students in grades 1 and 2 through the
CCS LIFT
program and oversee the development of student portfolios and nominations for gifted identification;
−To collaborate with general education to meet needs of academically and intellectually able students;
− To possess an understanding of the social and emotional needs of gifted learners;
−To evaluate and record student performance and communicate information effectively to students, teachers, and parents;
−To participate in AIG teachers’ curriculum planning and implementation;
−To participate in and facilitate on-going professional development for the county, and at the school site, pertinent to AIG education;
−To administer appropriate standardized assessments following placement guidelines and procedures;
−To maintain records for AIG students according to assessment and placement criteria;
−To advocate for AIG students;
−To perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate for this position both at the county level and at the school site.
