Adjunct instructor to teach
EDUC 435
(Elementary Mathematics) and
EDUC 380
(Integrating Math into the Elementary Classroom) in a traditional classroom setting on main campus. Course teaching load will vary depending on enrollment needs. This course is typically taught during the fall and spring semesters and occasionally in the summer sessions. Teaching experience in K-12 is required and expertise in mathematics coaching is desirable. Instructors must be available to teach late afternoon and evening courses. He/She must have knowledge of the current edTPA portfolio required for the initial North Carolina Teacher License.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement curriculum, inclusive of learning objectives. Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the department chair. Select and administer tests, assignments and other exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to the course learning objectives. Post grades on the Blackboard Grade Center and well as Campbell’s Self-Service portal. Maintain timely communications with students and staff at all times. Interact with students in a positive manner, listen effectively, and field questions pertaining to subject matter. Assess participation and performance of students within the classroom. Evaluate student work on out-of-class assignments. Administer exams according to university guidelines. Participate in departmental, faculty and staff meetings as requested. This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University. Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Education/Experience:
Master’s or Doctorate in Education from a regionally accredited university. Public school teaching experience is required. Expertise/experience in mathematics/mathematics coaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Communicate effectively to students, faculty, and administration through both oral and written channels. Maintain strict confidentiality for all internal school records, student work, and record-keeping. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication such as web/chat/text platforms. Comprehensive computer skills including learning and utilizing new and emerging technology and software. Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, university officials and the public. Work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people. Exercise independent judgment in complex, new and/or challenging situations. Meet strict deadlines, with accuracy and attention to detail. This position demands honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
