Job Description

Part-Time Culinary Instructor 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Huntington, NY 11746 ELIJA Farm is looking for an individual to help in our culinary program and to produce savory and sweet items for our ELIJA Farm marketplace. This person should be a high-energy individual who enjoys inspiring those around them to have fun in the Kitchen. The right candidate should have prior culinary experience, a passion for the culinary arts, and the organizational skills required to plan and host cooking classes and events for people of all ages and all abilities. This includes instruction in food preparation, cooking techniques, equipment operation and maintenance, sanitation, and safety. Responsibilities Prepare Savory and Sweet Products for the ELIJA Farm Marketplace/Farmer’s Market Plan culinary arts curriculum using individualized teaching strategies to promote active learning to meet all ability levels and are age appropriate Teach participants about food safety Teach participants proper sanitation practices Lead a classroom of mixed age groups and varying skill levels Create a system of skill-based achievements, helping students to advance and grow in culinary arts Create a fun and engaging learning environment Teach cooking and baking techniques. Works collaboratively with the ELIJA Farm staff Demonstrates professionalism and acts as a positive role model Communicates with administration as well as, students, and parents/guardians for schedule changes and/or when appropriate for classes. Qualifications Demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods and appropriate developmental instructional and classroom management skills. Self-starter who can work in a fast-paced environment and move quickly Natural curiosity and passion for food & culinary entertainment Upbeat personality Great communication skills with all age groups and strong interpersonal skills Confident with a range of cooking and baking techniques and speaking in front of a group with an amplified speaking voice At least one or more years of experience entertaining kids and/or adults Formal culinary education or relevant restaurant experience is a plus Formal teaching experience and training in education, childhood development, or related field is a plus Food Handlers license/certification preferred. Be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 45 pounds Be first aid/CPR certified

Hours :

Variable hours throughout the week, early morning and/or evening hours are available.
