Job Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The HVAC Instructor is responsible to the Division Dean of Business & Industrial Technology for the delivery of quality instruction and management of students enrolled in HVAC courses and advisement of students in the HVAC Programs. Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional development, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college and/or community service, and instructional management.
Duties and Responsibilities
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Work with members of the HVAC advisory committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.
Assist in the development of HVAC curriculum for students in HVAC program.
Evaluate courses in the HVAC curriculum.
TEACHING PERFORMANCE
Teach courses as assigned and in accordance with the established syllabi.
Provide high quality instruction in HVAC for students on a regular basis.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
Participate in the Faculty Performance Management System.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT
Advise and maintain records of assigned student advisees in accordance with division policies and procedures.
Provide effective academic advisement for students enrolled in the HVAC Program
Maintain office hours as required and needed by students, faculty, and advisees.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Represent the division and college by participating in community and professional activities.
Attend relevant professional meetings.
Maintain a current awareness of educational innovations and trends appropriate to provision of high-quality instruction in content area.
COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICE
Actively initiate and perform effective student recruitment activities in high schools and in the community.
Actively serve on college committees.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
Prepare reports in cooperation with division dean for input into the planning/reporting system.
Insure communication of policies, procedures, and campus information to all students.
Maintain HVAC labs at state-of-the-art standards.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Required:
Associate’s Degree in appropriate discipline; Certification in Heat Pump and Universal EPA.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree; NATE Certification
